Cancellation of Governing Board Elections

In the event that only one person files or no person files a nominating petition or nomination paper for a write-in candidate for an election to fill a district office, MCESA asks the County Board of Supervisors to cancel elections for those districts that qualify pursuant to A.R.S. 15-424 (D).

The board of supervisors, no earlier than seventy-five days before the election, may cancel the election for the position and appoint as if elected the person who filed the nominating petition/paper to fill the position. If no person files a nominating petition or paper for election to fill a seat, the board of supervisors, no earlier than seventy-five days before the election, may cancel the election for that office and deem the office vacant. The County Superintendent of Schools will appoint persons to the vacant seats as provided in § 15-302.

On September 10, 2014, the Board of Supervisors voted to cancel these elections. The following is the LIST OF CANCELLATIONS.
