This packet contains valuable information designed to guide both new candidates and incumbents through the process of becoming a governing board member.
The Candidate filing period for the November 8, 2016 election begins at 8:00 a.m. on July 11, 2016 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2016. Petitions presented before or after the established filing period CANNOT be accepted. (A.R.S. § 16-311 (F)) Nomination Petitions and Nomination Papers can be filed with the MCESA or with the Maricopa County Elections Department at one of locations listed above.
Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute § 15-421, each candidate whose name has been certified to appear on the election ballot shall submit the following:
1. A recent photograph.
2. A typewritten or electronic statement, not to exceed 500 words.
Certified Candidates may begin submitting the data described above NO EARLIER THAN August 11, 2016 and NO LATER THAN 5:00 p.m., September 15, 2016. Submissions will be accepted via email to Hope.Olguin@mcesa.maricopa.gov or in office by Hope Olguin, Elections Specialist for MCESA, 4041 N. Central Ave., Ste. 1200, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) for use in submitting statements and photographs via the internet are issued at the time of initial petition filing by the Maricopa County Education Service Agency.
